From November 30th to December 2nd, 2022, the ASEAN Human Resources Education Center hosted the ASEAN Pop-up Store event from 12:10 PM to 1:10 PM daily at the outdoor plaza of the Du Xing Building. Coinciding with the university's Higher Education Deep Cultivation Plan exhibition, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a series of flash activities by simply checking in and liking the center's fan page. In addition to sampling limited handmade Indonesian traditional snacks for free, participants could experience brewing Vietnamese coffee firsthand and engage in interactive fun games, enhancing their understanding of Southeast Asian countries.
The most sought-after Indonesian traditional snacks at the pop-up store were provided by Radencookies. A day before the event, at 9 PM, the center's fan page unveiled the mystery snack for the following day, generating excitement among the followers. Throughout the three days, seven different snacks were offered, introducing attendees to Indonesian snacks and providing insights into their origins and preparation methods, enriching their understanding of Indonesian culture. Long before the distribution of the snacks began, many people had gathered at the event location, resulting in the 30 portions of Indonesian snacks being quickly claimed within five minutes. This rapid uptake reflected the immense popularity of the snacks, and we are grateful for everyone's support! As for the Vietnamese coffee, a first-year student of the Master's Degree Program in Southeast Asian Regional Management demonstrated how to brew a cup of rich and mellow Vietnamese coffee through a three-minute hand-brewing process. Amidst the cold and rainy weather, the freshly brewed coffee provided warmth and comfort. Participants could personalize their cups by adding condensed milk based on their preferences.
In order to deepen the participants' understanding of Southeast Asian culture, the difficulty level of the games was slightly elevated. Selected topics included 'Piece Together Southeast Asia' and 'Southeast Asia Trivia King'. Successfully completing the game challenges entitled participants to choose a delicate small gift on the spot. The ASEAN Center also introduced a special activity for teacher trainees at their booth during the exhibition. Teacher trainees could experience a traditional Southeast Asian outfit matching game, and by liking the fan page and checking in, they could select an exclusive paper doll or a unique ASEAN souvenir.
Overall, the ASEAN Pop-up Store event successfully offered participants a vibrant experience of Southeast Asian culture and flavors while engaging them in interactive activities. We express our gratitude to the enthusiastic participation of the guests. The ASEAN Pop-up Store event has come to a successful conclusion with everyone's active engagement! In the future, the ASEAN Center will continue to organize distinctive events to promote Southeast Asian culture, enabling everyone to gain more insights into the countries of Southeast Asia.。
